Regulated Materials Coordinator

Up to $84,793 annually

                                               

This position exists to provide the Department with expert, professional technical oversight and training development regarding environmental regulated materials management so that MnDOT projects are completed in an environmentally effective and efficient manner while meeting regulatory requirements for proper management of regulated materials, improving the agency’s regulated materials management program, and achieving positive working relationships with regulatory agencies and local units of government.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Two years of advanced professional (10L or higher in Minnesota state system) experience managing regulated materials management, pollution prevention, or hazardous waste. 

 

** Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering or Science, will substitute for 6 months of advanced professional work experience.

 

AND the experience must demonstrate the following:

 

  • Evaluate complex problems and the various options available for a solution.

  • Use standard business planning techniques to develop implementation strategies and plans for targeted goals.

  • Develop sound recommendations for company-wide/agency-wide departmental management of regulated materials management issues.

  • Develop quality written work products using input from various levels of staff.

  • Effectively and diplomatically work with department staff at all levels. 

  • Experience negotiating with a variety of professionals sufficient to work with other state agencies, county and local governmental units, and consultants.

  • Effectively develop and manage technical portions of consultant contracts.

  • Hold or have the ability to become a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager within two years of employment.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to pass and maintain the 40-hour personal protection and safety training for working in areas that contain uncontrolled releases of chemicals (29CFR Part 1710), within 6 months of employment (HAZWOPER).
